What’s next? The relief and euphoria that comes from hanging an exhibition always seems to be short lived. After another year of painting + exhibiting, how can the quandary around being seen be so persistent? Questions about selling work v developing new themes, courting galleries v finding my own audience, social media with its impossible algorithm v the mass migration of other artists to other platforms like Bluesky or Substack……my head is spinning! Well it can all wait. I’ve loaded up with library books, I’m looking forward to spending time with friends, making new playlists, going for extended walks in the woods and mountains. Maybe we’ll cross paths? Ring in the holidays! My artist cousin Marion Evamy has invited me to spend Xmas on Vancouver Island with her family which includes 3 dogs. It’s always a treat spending time with them in their home/art gallery beside the sea. I’m planning to load up the car with goodies and celebrate the end of another fantastic year of art making.
